Spanish Broadcasting System Is On the Air

Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc., (SBS) has purchased a local signal and is now on the air in the San Francisco Bay Area. KRZZ 93.3 FM - La Raza- went on the air in late November 2004 broadcasting temporarily from Bonneville Broadcasting's studios at 400 Second Street. Mike Tobin of Pacific Union Commercial Brokerage, SBS's real estate consultant, announced that SBS has executed a ten year lease for the 23 rd, and top floor, at 455 Market Street. The premises now serve as its San Francisco headquarters. The space is currently occupied by Bonneville Broadcasting's radio stations KOIT and KDFC, who plans to relocate and combine its San Francisco operations at 201 Third Street in 2nd Quarter 2005. Tobin, who also represents Bonneville, reports that SBS was able to secure temporary offices on the 22nd floor of 455 Market, as well as reaching agreement with Bonneville for the use of two of their available on-air studios.

Spanish Broadcasting was founded in 1983 and is now the largest Hispanic radio broadcasting company in the United States. SBS currently owns and/or operates 20 stations in eight of the top-tem U>S> Hispanic markets, including Los Angeles, New York, Puerto Rico, Miami, Chicago and San Francisco. The company also operates LaMusica.com, a bilingual Spanish-English web site providing content to Latin music, entertainment, news and culture.
